About
African Marigold (tagetes) smells intensely green and pungent—bitter-herbaceous and slightly resinous—shot through with tart, fruity facets reminiscent of mango skin, green apple peel, and passionfruit. Its bright, chrysanthemum-like floralcy and crushed-stem aroma evoke sun-warmed garlands and late-summer fields with a faint medicinal snap. In perfumery it serves as a vivid top note to energize citrus and green compositions, bridge citrus to floral hearts, and add tomato-leaf or tropical-fruity lift, used sparingly and often paired with bergamot, neroli, galbanum, and blackcurrant bud.
