Amber

About

Amber is not a single ingredient but a warm, resinous-sweet accord built from labdanum, benzoin, vanilla and other balsams (often modernized with ambery-woody molecules like ambroxan), smelling golden, honeyed, vanillic, slightly smoky and softly powdery. Evoking a cozy, sensual glow, it is used chiefly as a long-lasting base and fixative to lend depth and warmth in ambrée/oriental, gourmand, floral-amber and woody-amber compositions, and can be tuned from plush and enveloping to drier, spicier or more musky.
