Cacao butter is the velvety, fatty extract of cocoa beans; its scent is soft, creamy, and lightly chocolaty, with waxy, lactonic, vanillic and nutty nuances that evoke white chocolate, warm pastry, and sun-warmed skin. In perfumery it serves as a gentle gourmand base and fixative, imparting melt‑in‑the‑skin richness and rounding sharper facets. It is often paired with vanilla, tonka, patchouli, coffee, tropical florals, and woods to add buttery warmth and to soften the bitterness of darker cacao; used sparingly to avoid an overly oily-waxy effect.
