Cassia is a warm, sweet-spicy bark note—darker and more pungent than true cinnamon, with honeyed, clove-like facets, leathery woodiness and a faint medicinal, balsamic undertone. In perfumery it provides radiant warmth and gourmand spice, used in oriental, spicy and gourmand compositions to add sugary depth and peppery bite and to anchor sweet notes like vanilla and tonka while blending smoothly with woods, labdanum, citrus and florals.
