About
Chinese Oud refers to agarwood from Aquilaria sinensis (notably Hainan), prized for a refined, airy profile: cool, camphoraceous and incense-like, with minty-green, tea and conifer nuances, bittersweet resin, smooth honeyed wood and gentle smoke. It evokes lacquered temples, polished antique wood and misty mountain forests, more meditative and transparent than the animalic Hindi style. Perfumers use Chinese Oud—or accords that emulate it—in the heart and base to impart depth and a spiritual, elegant woodiness without barnyard heft, pairing well with incense, tea notes, cedar, sandalwood, spices and amber, while acting as a nuanced fixative.
