Cypriol oil (nagarmotha), distilled from the roots of Cyperus, is a dark, earthy root note with smoky, woody and resinous facets—dry, leathery and subtly camphoraceous, with warm spicy and mossy-amber undertones that can veer animalic and incense-like. Employed as a potent base and fixative in chypres, orientals, leathers and woody blends, it lends long-lasting depth and an aged, temple-like smokiness, harmonizing with oud, patchouli, vetiver, labdanum, spices and citrus to anchor and enrich compositions.
