In perfumery, dahlia is a crafted accord (the natural flower is nearly scentless) that reads as plush and velvety, with dewy-green facets, a gentle clove-like spice, faint pollen-honey sweetness, and a creamy, slightly powdery undertone evoking opulent late-summer gardens. Used as a heart note to add volume and modern elegance to floral bouquets and florientals, it is typically built from rose/peony/carnation and muguet nuances, ionones, benzyl salicylate, soft musks and light lactones, and it pairs well with berries, citrus, woods, and ambered notes.
