About
“Fire” reads as smoky, charred and metallic heat—think embers and bonfire smoke, scorched wood, toasted sugar or singed leather—conveying warmth, primal energy and a faintly acrid, resinous edge. Perfumers recreate it with tarry and smoky materials (birch tar, cade), smoky woods (guaiac), resinous incenses and smoky phenolic synthetics, using the note sparingly to lend depth, contrast and a warm, lingering char to woods, leathers, orientals and gourmand accords.
