Flax, often interpreted as a “linen” nuance, smells airy and clean with pale-green, straw-like facets, a soft powdery-floral whisper, and a discreet nutty-cereal warmth that evokes sun‑dried fabric and breezy light. It sits between fresh cotton, ozonic freshness, and a gentle hay/seed nuance. In perfumery it is usually a crafted accord (rather than a natural extract), built with airy aldehydes, soft white musks, violet leaf or iris, and light woods to impart a modern clean-linen effect, adding transparency and comforting freshness to colognes, musky florals, and sheer woods, often bridging top to heart notes.
