Ink in perfumery is a conceptual accord that smells cool, mineral-dark, and faintly metallic, recalling fountain pen fluid on wet paper with ozonic, iodine, and phenolic nuances over a papery-woody, slightly plastic edge. Typically constructed from violet leaf, cypriol/papyrus, seaweed facets, aldehydes, resins, and smoky woods, it appears in the heart or base to lend a modern, graphic, mysterious mood—pairing well with leathers, woods, aquatics, or to cast a dusky “ink wash” over florals and ambers.
