About
Kyara is the most prized, resin-saturated grade of agarwood (aloeswood), revered in Japanese incense; its aroma is deep and meditative—cool-green and bittersweet with camphoraceous lift, refined smoke, polished woods, leather-tobacco shadows, dried-fruit balsam, and a subtle medicinal spice, typically less animalic than many ouds. It evokes temple stillness, lacquered wood, and solemn warmth. In perfumery it appears as a tenacious base note in trace amounts or, more often, as a carefully built accord, lending incense-like gravitas and serene austerity to amber, woody, leather, and incense compositions. It pairs well with sandalwood, frankincense, labdanum, patchouli, vetiver, cypriol, and spices, and is frequently emulated due to extreme rarity and sustainability concerns.
