Mahogany

Mahogany smells deep and warm with a dry, smooth woody character punctuated by resinous sweetness and subtle leathery or cigar-box nuances, evoking polished antique furniture and dusky forest interiors. In perfumery it functions as a base note to add depth, warmth and a refined darkness to woody, oriental and chypre accords, usually recreated as a blended mahogany accord (cedar, sandal, leather, amber and spice facets) rather than as a single natural extract.
