Malaysian Oud

About

Malaysian oud is a rich, sweet-resinous agarwood note marked by creamy, milky balsam and warm, honeyed wood tones with a gentle fruity-dried-plum facet and a smooth, leathery civet-like warmth that is generally less smoky and less medicinal than some other oud varieties. It evokes dense tropical forest resin, incense-smoke softened by sweetness, and an aged, comforting richness. Perfumers deploy Malaysian oud as a long-lasting base note to impart opulence and round sweetness to oriental, amber and woody compositions, often blending it with rose, saffron, spices, vanilla, amber or sandalwood to tame its animalic edges and amplify warmth, depth and sillage.
