Marigold (Tagetes) has a vivid, green-herbaceous, slightly bitter scent with sharp citrusy sparkle and fruity apple–mango facets, resting on dry hay and faint tobacco undertones; it reads pungent yet sun-warmed and garden-fresh. Perfumers use it as a bright top-to-heart bridge to add tart leafy lift and diffusion, especially in citrus, green florals, chypres, and fougères, where it pairs well with neroli, jasmine, osmanthus, blackcurrant bud, galbanum, leather, and tobacco notes.
