Marzipan is a sweet, nutty almond-paste note with creamy, sugary warmth and a soft, buttery doughiness, rounded by a faint bitter-almond/cherry-pit facet; it evokes pâtisserie counters, holiday confections, and cozy nostalgia. In perfumery it’s typically constructed from bitter almond/benzaldehyde and heliotropin with vanilla or tonka, used in the heart-to-base to add gourmand richness and powdery comfort; it pairs well with spices (cardamom, cinnamon), florals (orange blossom, heliotrope), ambers, woods, and tobacco, and can brighten cherry nuances or soften leather accords.
