In perfumery, “pearls” is an abstract, nacreous accord that reads coolly mineral and slightly saline with an ozonic, powdery and faintly metallic sheen, giving a luminous, satin‑skinlike clarity rather than a concrete floral or fruity scent. Perfumers use a pearl accord to add iridescence and polish—brightening top notes and softening heavier bases—imparting a refined, clean shimmer to aquatics, aldehydic chypres, modern musks and florals for a luxurious, pearlescent finish.
