Powdery notes recall soft, talc-like, skin-warm textures—clean, slightly sweet and dry with nuances of iris, violet, heliotrope and rounded vanillic or almond facets, creating a floral-milky, skinlike impression that evokes vintage cosmetics, baby powder or the quiet softness of linens. Perfumers use powdery accords to smooth and round edges, mellow florals and create intimate, nostalgic drydowns; they are built from orris (orris butter), ionones, heliotropin, coumarin, vanillin and musks or via modern synthetics to give a cushioned, velvety base in florals, chypres and oriental blends.
