Siam cardamom is a bold, resinous spice note—brighter and more camphoraceous than common green cardamom, with an immediate citrusy-green top, peppery warmth and a resinous, slightly smoky-balsamic heart that carries a faint menthol‑eucalyptus lift. It smells vivid and sharp rather than sweet, with an aromatic, almost piney clarity that cuts through richer ingredients. Perfumers use Siam cardamom as a lively top-to-mid note to add spicy sparkle and exotic warmth, often to enliven woods, leather, incense and oriental accords or to bridge citrus and vanilla in spicy-gourmand and woody compositions, evoking Southeast Asian spice markets and sun-warmed rainforest undergrowth.
