Silk in perfumery is a textural accord rather than a literal material, suggesting sheer, airy luminosity—clean, lightly powdery, and subtly sweet—often built from fine white musks, soft aldehydes, iris/heliotrope nuances, and milky lactones to evoke the cool glide and lustrous sheen of silk fabric. In compositions it lends a smooth, glossy “second-skin” finish, rounding sharp facets and boosting diffusion without weight; commonly placed from heart to base in musky florals, modern woods, and clean ambers to add elegance and tactile softness.
