About
Suede is the soft, velvety face of leather in perfumery: a smooth, powdery-woody accord with creamy, slightly sweet nuances (often almond, iris, and violet) and little to none of the smoke or tar typical of stronger leathers, evoking fine gloves and warm, supple skin. Perfumers use suede to lend plush texture and understated luxury to florals, woods, ambers, and gourmands, building it with ionones, orris/heliotrope facets, soft musks, saffron, and gentle woods to round sharp edges, soften leather themes, and enrich a comforting drydown.
