Sweat reads as salty, tangy and slightly metallic with warm, lactic and fatty undertones that become musky and animalic on skin; it evokes post-exertion heat, intimate closeness and raw human presence, balancing between bodily realism and sensuality. In perfumery it is recreated as a sweat accord—built from short-chain fatty acids, lactones and animalic or synthetic musks—and used sparingly to lend skinlike warmth, eroticism or “dirty” realism to fougères, chypres, leathers and modern skin scents, often tempered with woods, ambers or florals for balance.
