Trillium in fragrance reads as an extremely delicate, often ephemeral white- or wild-flower note—quietly floral with a soft, powdery sweetness, a green stemmy facet and a faint earthy/peaty undercurrent, sometimes bordering on virtually scentless in the raw, evoking damp woodland floors and fresh spring mornings. In perfumery trillium is treated as a fragile spring accord used to lend naturalism and a shy, dewy heart; it is typically recreated or supported synthetically and blended with lily-of-the-valley, cyclamen, green leaves, watery aldehydes, soft musks or light mosses to preserve its subtle, tender character in floral and green compositions.
