ABOUT
Priprioca (the aromatic rhizome of Cyperus articulatus from the Amazon) smells warm, sweet and balsamic with a distinctive powdery‑creamy facet reminiscent of toasted rice or coconut, layered with earthy, woody and slightly smoky‑spicy undertones and a faint vetiver‑like greenness. In perfumery it is used mainly as a base/fixative to lend exotic, amber‑gourmand and powdery‑woody depth, pairing well with vanilla, tonka, woods, spices and citrus to add warmth, texture and an unusual tropical‑earthy signature to oriental, woody or gourmand compositions.
CATEGORY · WOODY
Woody notes are characterized by their warm, rich, and grounding qualities, often evoking the essence of forests and nature. Common scents in this category include cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, and oakmoss, each contributing a distinct depth and complexity to fragrances. These notes are frequently used in both men’s and women’s perfumes, providing a strong base that enhances floral, spicy, or citrus notes, and creating a sense of tranquility and sophistication.
